Presentation: “Bear Creek Valley Environmental Database”
Speaker: Craig Tuss, Project Manager,
Rogue Valley Council of Governments (RVCOG)
Bear Creek Valley Environmental Database is a tool which is designed for transportation planning but can also serve as an information source for many other planning purposes. RVCOG, along with federal, state, county agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private partners have created a mapping tool which integrates ecosystem function, concurrent conservation planning, and environmental data into local transportation planning in Jackson County. RVCOG has created a set of GIS maps and an accompanying data library which identifies potential conservation areas, linkages and conflict areas. The maps have no regulatory function, but simply provide information for transportation planners, city/county planners, developers, conservation interests and others wanting information on ecologically important areas in the valley.
